Hello, my dear friend! If you are reading these lines, then the topic of volunteering is close to you, you want to know what volunteers do, maybe you want to become a volunteer in the U-Report project. 😊 Let's share the information about this with you in a short and concise way.
Who is a volunteer? - let's start with this question.
A volunteer (volunteer) is any person, regardless of age, education, profession, who selflessly wants to help, do good deeds and make the world a better place. That is, he helps people or animals, nature or his society in general according to his heart's desire. Anyone can be a volunteer: a schoolchild, a student, an applicant, an employee of an organization or a pensioner. Because usually volunteering is done during the main study / free time.
U-Report volunteers are the heart and center of our project, people who devote their time and energy to the development and improvement of the U-Report youth platform and are in tune with its values.
The most important of U-Report's values is the development of youth participation, that is, the opportunity for every young person to express his opinion freely, to be heard, and to participate in reforms aimed at improving his conditions in society.
You may know that U-Report is an online youth communication platform, by connecting to it you can express your opinion on various topics. U-Report was launched in Uzbekistan on the initiative of UNICEF. We also have national partners: Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Ministry of Preschool and School Education, "Yuksalish" UMH, Youth Union, Youth Affairs Agency, etc.
How U-Report works: together with partners (government agencies, NGOs and other organizations), we develop questionnaires on the topics that these organizations are responsible for and send them to all young people connected to U-Report. Young people express their opinion in the survey, and we collect all the answers and send the results to our partners. Partners, taking these results into account, adopt programs and projects designed to improve conditions for young people.
So, even when you are at home / studying, you can participate in surveys and contribute to the reforms that affect you and your peers with U-Report!
We call our volunteers members of the U-Report Youth Committee. Each region has separate teams of Youth Committees. They will help organize U-Report promotion, help more people learn about us and use the opportunities of the youth platform.
It can be presentations, promotions, contests, sports competitions, cultural events and other events at various educational institutions. In addition, active young people can volunteer online in the life of U-Report.
Now you have learned about our volunteers, and now you are wondering: "What does being a U-Report volunteer give me?" you can ask. Let's clarify that too.
